From 0 to 1 million monthly viewers on pinterest

So you have your own website set up, maybe even a few blog posts and photos, but how do you get the word out about your amazing new endeavor? How do you ‘drive traffic’ to your website? The complete answer to that question will look a little different for each website but one search engine should be on everyone’s list, and that’s pinterest.

Why Pinterest?

The short answer is that your efforts into creating content on Pinterest go a lot farther than on any other social media platform.

For example, posting your content on Facebook or Instagram might have immediate results (certain number of likes/comments) but after a day or so your post is lost in the scroll. followers who haven’t been constantly engaged on social media will have likely not seen your post and probably never will unless they specifically look up your page.

Pinterest, is an entirely different platform that operates as a search engine, and the life of your post (or ‘PIN”) is significantly longer. As users search for topics, diy’s, products, etc, they then share, or ‘re-Pin’, the content they want to reference in the future. These re-pins show up in the feed of everyone that is following the person who shared the pin. As more and more users search and find your content and re-pin it, your audience becomes larger. Soon, users who like your content will begin following your profile, and then your content will show up in their feed every time you post. In fact, if you are reading this post you most likely found it on pinterest!

Ok, How do I do this??

First, you will want to set up your pinterest profile, make sure to include a photo of yourself or your business and a description (with applicable hashtags) for each board you create. Then, find similar accounts in your niche and follow them. After you have everything set up, its time to start pinning!

I am not a pinterest expert, but I will tell you exactly how I gained one million monthly viewers on my account. Please do some research to find what tools and tricks are applicable for your niche.

First up, i did some searching (and pinning) for applicable articles that bloggers had written about their pinterest experiences. This is where I realized that I would need to pin 10-30 times per day, at times where my followers were most likely to see or engage with my content. This time commitment was a bit shocking, so I went looking for automated pinning apps, and that is where I found Tailwind.

The Tailwind App could not make this any easier! Not only do they suggest time slots for each time you should be pinning, but all you have to do is search and ‘load’ them ahead of time and tailwind automatically pins them to the boards you selected at the proper time. You can also make your own pins on tailwind, which is key to driving traffic to your website.

THEN, as if that wasn’t easy enough, tailwind offers ‘tribes’ which are essentially group boards where participants share each other’s content and boost views to those pins.

Creating an account was easy, and I selected 10 time slots per day to start and I also joined 10 tribes. Each week I would load pins into the time slots for the following week, and re-pin content from the ‘tribes’. Gradually, I moved to 15 time slots per day and growth really took off after that.

In October 2018 I started my business pinterest account with zero followers or viewers, and in May 2019 I was up to 300+ followers and 1 million+ monthly viewers. After rising over the 1 million mark, I have seen a dramatic uptick in traffic to my blog, which was my main goal.

Now this was just my experience, and you could very well attain this level of followers/viewers at a faster rate, but I didn’t have the time to research further methods and essentially let the Tailwind App run on autopilot. I have since added tailwind for Instagram, which is a whole other topic that I wont get into for this post, but just know it’s a game changer.

How do I know Tailwind will work for me?

Short answer: You don’t. But, that’s one of the reasons they offer a free trial (no credit card required), so you can check out their features and start seeing the results instantly. IF you are not impressed, there’s no commitment.

Personally, I was skeptical when I first started using the app, but now I feel there’s just no other way to manage Pinterest that isn’t extremely time consuming.

My next Pinterest goal is 5,000 followers for my account, which might seem like a crazy high number but I know its doable thanks to the tools that tailwind provides. In addition, I am always researching and updating my hashtags and descriptions of my pinterest boards to make them easy to find.

i hope this article was easy for you to follow, i know I would have appreciated step by step instructions a year ago when I was getting things rolling with my own account, that is why I wrote this article! :) Happy pinning!!
