Marketplace Buffet

I found this buffet on facebook marketplace while searching for something to put in my dining room, and with a little tlc it turned out to be the perfect piece

Step 1 prep!

As you can see this piece was dusty and dirty from its previous owner, so it had to be cleaned before painting. a paper towel, a smidge of rubbing alcohol, and a lint free cloth were all that were needed to ensure the surface was grease and dust free.

Step 2 - Sand the top

I wanted to put a wood stain on the top of this piece, so sanding was required. I used an electric sander and a pretty thick grit paper to take off the top layer. Sanding the rest of the piece is not necessary.

Step 3 - Paint !

I used a chalk paint for this project and chose a color called ‘kid gloves’ by Valspar (you can find it at lowes). Apply it with a quality brush as using a roller will leave the surface with quite a few tiny bubbles due to the thickness of the paint. don't worry about brush strokes for the first coat, just make sure to apply the paint evenly.
